Does your employee still have a legal right to work? Have they recently had an incident that affects their suitability for the role?

We all know that people are dynamic, as are their circumstances.

A single background check prior to a candidate’s employment no longer cuts the mustard when it comes to keeping your business safe and compliant. It is now well-recognised that background checks expire and should be regularly renewed.

This is for two primary reasons: (1) to ensure that you continue to remain compliant with your industry’s regulations; and (2) to ensure that you continue to have the right employees working for your business.

We have introduced a new Renewals feature to our existing service to make this process of renewing expired background checks convenient, automated and easy-to-use.

What is the Renewals feature?

The Renewals feature is an add-on to our existing service. It will allow you to view any expired background checks and send reminders to your employees to renew their checks quickly and easily - all directly from your dashboard!

How does it work?

  1. This feature is available directly from your dashboard, and the process is quick and easy to set up.
  2. Once you have opted in, it’s time to set up your expiry timeframe, which can range from 3 months to 3 years.
  3. The portal will identify the employees whose checks have expired or fall outside the timeframe you have set in a convenient tab on your dashboard.
  4. The portal will then send a request directly to that employee to renew their check, and continues to display the employee as having an expired check until this renewal is complete.

This leaves you with the peace of mind that you have minimised potential risk to your business and are meeting your compliance requirements on an ongoing basis.

Why renew?

Expired checks pose risks to your business. In many industries, having expired checks can mean your business is no longer compliant with the industry regulations. Expired checks also create organisational risk as employees’ circumstances can significantly change over time, and these changes may affect their ability or suitability to complete their role.
